General Summary:

Responsible for acquiring new business opportunities.  Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the preparations and executions of project contracts while meeting cost, quality, equipment conservation and safety objectives.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Actively pursues and acquires new business through developing and maintaining strong client relationships, presentations to prospective clients, sound understanding of proposed project plans, specifications and other contractual documents, attendance at pre-bid meetings and project progress meetings.

 

  • Prepares project estimates, assists in project contract negotiations and communicates all financial details to appropriate parties.

 

  • Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates manpower, equipment, tools and supply needs within the electric power division to meet or exceed client objectives. Works directly with union hiring hall as appropriate.

 

  • Establishes project objectives, costs, timelines, budgets, policies, performance expectations and safety standards. Monitors adherence to all of above through site visits, project progress reports, performance evaluations, safety meetings and working closely with field crew supervision.

 

  • Monitors and assess maintenance and safeguarding of equipment, tools and supplies.

 

  • Manages administrative aspects of contacts (change orders, fee payments, rental equipment, timesheet coding, billing and expenses, etc.) by working closely with administrative staff and Manager of Fleet Operations.

 

  • Releases completed project to the full satisfaction of the client and resolves any job closeout items.

 

  • Remain abreast of new industry technologies including processes and equipment/tool improvements.

 

  • Responsible for saving and filing appropriate job information including plans, specifications and job related communications for permanent archives.

 

  • Performs additional assignments as requested by management. Serves on corporate and division committees as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Minimum bachelors degree in construction management, engineering, or business related field.

 

  • Ten plus years of prior experience with related construction industry projects.

 

  • Analytical and problem solving, strong interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.

 

Scope Data (budget accountability, operating revenues, organizational unit responsibility, number of employees supervised, other pertinent numeric data):

  • $10-40 million dollar annual budget range depending upon the department.

 

  • Supervises up to 100 field crew employees.

 

Description of physical working environment:

  • Works in normal office environment and makes frequent client visits. When in the office, regularly works from a sitting position with a computer. Repetitive typing and computer use required.  Regular bending, twisting, and light lifting is common.

 

  • Works on field construction site in all kinds of weather to survey site conditions and resolve coordination issues with the trades.

 

  • Ability to climb up and down ladders and steps on site is required.

 

  • Frequent travel with overnight stay required.
